Melaka launched a Tourism Passport early this year that costs RM5 and can save a visitor up to RM268 across 63 tourism products. It is one of the simplest value plays available during Visit Melaka Year 2.0, and it is still on sale now.
What the passport covers
The booklet works as both a discount card and a collectible souvenir. Present it at participating venues and you receive reduced admission or special rates. You can also collect a stamp at each stop, which makes it a tidy record of the trip.
The 63 products break down into five groups: 35 tourist attractions, 15 hotels and accommodations, four restaurants and cafes, four shopping centres, and five health tourism packages.
Discounts worth noting
The Melaka River Cruise and Menara Taming Sari both give passport holders 10% off. You can combine both in a single afternoon around the heritage core and recover the RM5 cost before you even reach the tower.
The Magic Art 3D Museum, Bayou Lagoon Water Park, and Cheng Ho Cultural Museum near Jonker Walk offer savings of up to 20%. Some venues go much further, with the overall discount ceiling across the full passport reaching 80%.
Where to pick one up
Copies are sold at:
- Tourism Melaka kiosks in Banda Hilir
- The Menara Taming Sari ticket counter
- The Melaka River Cruise boarding point
- Zoo Melaka in Ayer Keroh
- Select participating hotels
Some hotels and travel agencies hand them out free as a promotional extra, so it is worth asking at check-in before you pay.
A note on availability
The initial print run was 10,000 copies. The Banda Hilir kiosk and the main river attractions are your most reliable collection points. If you are arriving by bus, the Banda Hilir kiosk sits close to the heritage core and is the easiest first stop.
The passport is valid throughout 2026 as part of the Visit Melaka Year 2.0 and Visit Malaysia 2026 campaigns. If your trip includes Menara Taming Sari, the Melaka River Cruise, and Zoo Melaka, the maths work in your favour from the moment you buy it.
