Update: Melaka's Durian Feast Just Got Cheaper, RM10 for the First 2,000

The Melaka state government has added a fresh subsidy to this Sunday's durian buffet at Duta Riang Villa, cutting entry to RM10 for the first 2,000 visitors, with a petting zoo and food trucks thrown in.

Good news if you already had Sunday’s durian feast marked on your calendar. It just got cheaper.

The new price

Melaka’s rural development, agriculture and food security committee chairman, Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, confirmed that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh has approved an extra subsidy for the Melaka Durian Festival 2026 at Duta Riang Villa in Selandar, Jasin, this Sunday, 5 July.

The entry price for premium Musang King and Black Thorn, originally RM25, is now RM10 for the first 2,000 visitors through the gate. The state is covering RM15 of the cost per person. Arrive after the first 2,000 and the standard RM25 rate applies.

Children aged 12 and under still get in free.

Still the same format

The core experience has not changed from what we covered earlier this week. Entry runs from 11am to 4pm, with each visitor given a 20-minute all-you-can-eat slot once inside. Organisers have set aside more than 12 metric tons of durian for the day, sourced from Melaka’s current bumper harvest.

New for this update: expect traditional performances, food truck stalls and a petting zoo on site, making it a more complete family outing rather than just a durian sitting.

Why it matters for visitors

At RM10 for unlimited premium durian, this is now one of the cheapest ways to try Musang King and Black Thorn at their peak. The subsidy is capped at the first 2,000 visitors, so arriving earlier in the day gives you a better shot at the discounted rate.

The festival is open to everyone, not just Melaka residents, so out-of-state visitors qualify for the same RM10 entry.

Getting there

Duta Riang Villa sits in Selandar, in the Asahan area of Jasin district, about 30 to 40 minutes from Melaka city centre by car. Grab coverage can be patchy this far out, so driving is the safer bet. Pair the visit with a swing along the southern coast toward Merlimau, or fold it into your stops from the Melaka Food Crawl itinerary.

This remains a one-day event with no announced repeat date, so Sunday 5 July is the only window.
