Melaka Confirms Free Entry to Tourism Spots on National Day, 31 August

Melaka has confirmed free entry to selected tourism products on 31 August, moved from a February date that clashed with Ramadan, as part of bigger National Day celebrations centred at Klebang.

If you are weighing a Melaka trip around National Day, 31 August is worth ringing on the calendar.

What was confirmed

The Melaka state government has confirmed that Malaysians will get free entry to selected state tourism products on 31 August, in conjunction with Hari Kebangsaan celebrations.

The offer was originally meant to run on 20 February, which commemorates the 1956 proclamation in Banda Hilir of the Federation of Malaya’s independence date. That date falls during Ramadan in 2026, so the state moved the initiative to National Day to provide more suitable conditions for visitors while respecting the fasting month.

Which venues, exactly

The full list of participating attractions for 31 August had not been released at the time of the announcement. More details are expected closer to the date.

This is a recurring promotion, and past editions have rotated through venues such as Menara Taming Sari, Zoo Melaka, the Melaka River Cruise, and PERZIM’s museums. Past rounds have also carried per-venue conditions, like daily visitor caps or blackout days on certain boat trips, so once the 2026 lineup is confirmed, a quick check of each venue’s own terms is worth the two minutes.

Stack it with other savings

If you are visiting Melaka this year regardless of the exact date, the state’s RM5 Tourism Passport is still on sale and offers discounts across 63 tourism products. Between that and a free National Day entry day, this is shaping up to be one of the cheaper stretches to see Melaka’s big attractions this year.
