Ayer Keroh Lake is about to get very busy with fishing rods.
The details
Gegar Joran Melaka 2026 is a fishing competition on Sunday 18 October, from 9am to 1pm, at Tasik Ayer Keroh. It is organised by the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council together with Nadi Media Events, and this is its second year.
The organisers say the aim is to promote the lake as a recreation destination for visitors from Melaka and beyond, and to support nearby businesses and accommodation during Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Entry and prizes
- Fee: RM40 per rod, with two hooks allowed on each rod.
- First place: RM4,000.
- Second place: RM1,000.

For registration enquiries, the organisers list 013-266 7011 as one of their contact numbers.
What lives in the lake
The lake is stocked with a mix of catfish, snakehead and tilapia in various sizes. That makes it forgiving for casual anglers as well as people who fish seriously.
Making it a day out
Not an angler? The shaded lakeside is a calm place for a morning stroll before the Ayer Keroh heat builds. The area is also home to some of Melaka’s best family stops, including Zoo Melaka and the Melaka Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary, where ten baby green anacondas were recently born.
For a full day, the Family Weekend itinerary shows how to combine them. If you are driving, read the parking and driving guide first.
