Menara Taming Sari Named Best Observation Tower at Malaysia's Tourism Industry Awards

Melaka's revolving gyro tower picked up Best Observation Tower Attraction at the 2026 Tourism Industry Awards, its second national win in two years after more than 500,000 riders last year.

What won

Melaka’s revolving gyro tower was named Best Observation Tower Attraction at the 2026 Tourism Industry Awards, held on 8 August at Sunway Resort Hotel in Selangor and organised by the Malaysia International Tourism Development Association. It is the tower’s second national recognition in as many years, following a Best Iconic Tourist Attraction win the year before.

The tower’s operator says the award reflects visitor numbers as much as anything else. More than 500,000 people rode Menara Taming Sari last year, a figure the operator points to as a key reason the tower keeps showing up on these lists.

Why it matters for your trip

For travellers, this is a vote of confidence in a ride that is already one of the easiest wins in the city. Menara Taming Sari lifts you 80 metres above Banda Hilir while the whole gondola slowly rotates, giving you a full 360-degree sweep of the Straits of Melaka, the red Dutch buildings around Stadthuys, and the Melaka River winding through the old town.

It sits right in the heritage core, an easy walk from Stadthuys and St Paul’s Church, so it slots naturally into an afternoon of sightseeing without needing a special trip. If you caught our look at why the tower has become Melaka’s hottest late-night attraction, this award only adds to the case for going up.
