Melaka’s National Day weekend at Klebang just got a new headline attraction, and it floats.
A first for the state celebration
Two Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) warships will anchor off Pantai Klebang for the three-day program, and for the first time in the event’s history, the public can step aboard for free. Previously, visitors could only view naval assets from the shore.
The state government says boarding runs across the full 29 to 31 August program, alongside Melaka Berselawat, Ambang Merdeka, and the Hari Kebangsaan celebration itself. Specific daily boarding hours have not been announced yet, so check on-site signage once you’re at Klebang.
Why it matters for visitors
Organisers are billing it as an educational, learn-while-you-visit experience, a rare chance to see Malaysia’s maritime defence assets up close rather than from the shoreline. It adds another reason to make the trip out to Klebang over the long weekend, on top of the existing three-day program.
Planning your visit
If you’re coming for the ships, plan around the parking and shuttle arrangements already confirmed for the three days: 11 public parking areas around Klebang, each linked to the event grounds by free shuttle buses. The same weekend also carries free entry to selected state tourism products on 31 August, and overlaps with the new Melaka International Sports Festival at Encore Melaka just up the coast, so expect Klebang to be busy across all three evenings.
